Working Overtime Causes Several Diseases


Generally 8-9 hours of work done each day . However, to achieve a specific target , not a few people tend to choose to work overtime . In fact , it's not impossible , requiring them to work overtime to push yourself physically and mentally .

Because it tends to impose , most of those who worked overtime were using certain ways to stay alert , for example, consume a lot of caffeine . Though I was not a tired eliminate , but merely to pump up the spirit for a while.

Working overtime could probably be done occasionally if urgent . But if it is done almost every day , of course there are health risks behind it . Here are some health risks that must be faced when too often work overtime .

1 . stimulant addiction
To overcome overtime , people tend to rely on stimulants like caffeine and nicotine . Though stimulants are addictive and can lead to complications later on . Addicted to caffeine and nicotine also tends to make a person prone to anxiety and sleep disorders .

2 . indigestion
According to some studies , work overtime and irregular eating habits lead to many digestive disorders such as abdominal pain , nausea , diarrhea , constipation , and heartburn . This is generally caused by lack of water consumption .

3 . heart disease
A study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology showed that working overtime increases the risk of heart disease by 80 percent . The study found that employees who often work overtime are significantly prone to suffer from heart attacks and strokes .

" People who often experience a combination of overtime stress , high blood pressure , and unhealthy diet . These things will lead to early heart problems for employees of overtime , " said lead researcher Dr Marianna Virtanen , of the Finnish Institute researchers .

4 . insomnia
When people work overtime , they ignore the importance of sleep to get sufficient quality and quantity . By doing so , they also increase the risk of insomnia . Insomnia is a disorder difficult to initiate and maintain sleep .

5 . diabetes
Diabetes is another health risk faced by a person who often work overtime . This is due to the tendency of people to work overtime are difficult to control eating habits and exercise or move on .

6 . obesity
A number of studies showed that people who work overtime regularly are more likely to be obese than those who do not . Almost the same as diabetes , it is triggered by the difficulty to control their diet and exercise habits .

Working overtime can also reduce levels of leptin in the body . Leptin is a hormone that plays an important role in controlling appetite .

7 . depression
A research shows that long working hours may increase the risk of depression . The study involved 2,123 British civil servants for six years showed that those who work every day on average at least 11 hours in the office had a chance two and a half times higher chance of developing depression than colleagues who work just seven or eight hours every day .

Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City says Bryan Bruno , working for long hours at the office may lead to depression in several ways , such as creating a family conflict , due to increased levels of cortisol ( the stress hormone ) . In addition , insecurity and lack of sleep may also help explain the increased risk of depression .

8 . declining fertility
Especially in men , working overtime is also known to trigger many fertility -related disorders , such as infertility , erectile dysfunction , decreased sperm count , and decreased sexual desire .
