Breast Cancer Awareness Month


In October, the internationally celebrated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In this month, many organizations / foundations that care about breast cancer held programs that seek to increase awareness and concern for society, especially women, about breast cancer.
In addition to providing information about breast cancer and support to sufferers, this campaign is also expected to raise funds for research on breast cancer, to find the causes, prevention, and also cure breast cancer.
As we know, breast cancer is the No. 2 cause of death for women in Indonesia, after cervical cancer. Although breast cancer is actually a type of cancer that can be detected early. However, a low level of public awareness leading to high levels of stage breast cancer patients in Indonesia.
In Indonesia, there are also Jakarta Breast Health Foundation (YKPJ), which consists of a collection of people who care about breast cancer.     In a study reported online this week in the American Journal of Epidemiology, the researchers found that women with high sun exposure had half the risk of developing advanced breast cancer, which is cancer that has spread beyond the breast, compared to women with low sun exposure. These findings were observed only for women with naturally light skin color. The study defined high sun exposure as having dark skin on the forehead, an area that is usually exposed to sunlight.
